Shell Bonga – full hotel service across three vessels

1,120 POB

The Bonga Project began as a 7 day short- term consultancy project in Wallsend, UK when the Bonga FPSO (110 bed) was nearing the end of her construction phase in Amec’s Tyneside shipyard. Trinity’s client required a specialist review of suitability and ergonomic layout of the design and equipment installed.

The consultancy project was extended into a full hotel service when Trinity was asked to provide staff, food and cleaning for sea trials on the Tyne prior to her departure from the shipyard.

This is a good example of a project that went above and beyond and exceeded the clients expectations of Trinity in terms of operational excellence and delivery to the highest of service standards. From a very small short-term project the Bonga consultancy team expanded into a massive time-critical project requiring agile thinking and fast responses to recruit, induct and employ a skilled workforce.

Logistics involved in arranging food, cleaning and consumable supplies offshore Nigeria as well as the visa and travel for catering crew was best described as challenging, delivering services across the three vessels with POB over 1,120.

The project was successfully completed 30 months later when oil production reached 200,000 barrels per day.

Bluewater Services UK

140 POB

Trinity was operating as catering and housekeeping contractor for Bluewater Services UK Limited for over 25 years. The contract commenced in 1995 working through their Head Office in the Netherlands, on the Uisge Gorm in the shipyard in Cadiz, Spain and latterly with Bluewater until middle of 2020.

Bluewater owns and operates a fleet of high specification FPSOs designed to operate in the harsh environmental conditions under stringent regulatory regimes.

Trinity managed the service on the Aoka Mizu FPSO, located on the Lancaster Field West of Shetland in the UK Sector of the North Sea and operated by Bluewater Lancaster Production (UK) Ltd for their client Hurricane Energy Plc. These contracts saw personnel onboard at full capacity of 65 on the Haewene Brim and 70 on the Aoka Mizu.

The latest contract with Bluewater saw the Trinity team deliver the full catering and housekeeping service on the Haewene Brim FPSO, located on the Pierce Field in the UK Sector of the North Sea and operated by Pierce Production Company Ltd for Bluewaters’ client Shell UK Exploration & Production.’

The Trinity Team provide the standards of health, safety, security, environment and quality required. A key objective of this contract was the continuous development of value and quality to meet the needs of the client and best practice laid down by the regulatory authorities.

Trinity’s strategy for achieving the objectives is working closely with the client on joint planning and performance review and focussing on resourcing, planning, financial management, administration and measurement of all services.

Trinity has vast experience in the offshore oil industry, with the majority of its contracts on drilling semi-subs, drillships, jack-ups, FPSOs, flotels and accommodation ships, where it has gained a reputation for the quality of services and support management.

PEREGRINO FPSO PROJECT

The Maersk FPSO project team in Copenhagen won the contract from Anadarko to provide an FPSO to operate offshore in Brazilian waters in accordance with the specifications provided.  A change in Operator from Anadarko to Norwegian major Statoil mid project in the Singapore shipyard informed a decision by Statoil that the specifications for the vessel would require an upgrade to meet the Norwegian standards.

Trinity was invited to carry out a review of the facilities as had been designed for Anadarko and quantify any variance from the Norwegian standards required by Statoil.  Trinity then acted as the hotel services expert consultants to Maersk in meetings with Statoil to agree the way forward.  The work was completed to the satisfaction of all involved and post completion the vessel departed Singapore for hook-up in Brazil.

ENSCO - 700 POB

ENSCO – A total of 9 jack-up drilling rigs working between Denmark, Netherlands and the UK Southern and Morecambe Bay areas were mobilised with 7 completed within 3 days.  The Trinity contract was for the provision of the full offshore hotelkeeping service on their rigs which includes food service, accommodation cleaning, laundry service and offshore shop.

This was the largest offshore installation mobilisation for over fifteen years and it was met with an enthusiastic management team.  Offices were established in Holland and Denmark to provide the local logistical support.  All of the offshore staff were inducted into the company and kitted out in their Trinity uniforms in time for the first day of the takeover.  The induction was a crucial piece in the new contract jigsaw as it required a change of mindset for a number of the multi-national staff who were transferred under the European Transfer of Undertakings (TUPE) regulations.  The existing Trinity supply chain provided superb support throughout the contract term and were very much part of the Trinity Family.

Client Testimonials

The client manager and also personnel onboard the FPSOs provided excellent feedback at every quarterly review during this contract period.

‘A very big thank you to the galley staff for their flexibility. Constant late and early meal requests (from deck crew due to tasks such as tankers and Heli-ops) are always met’.

Deck Crew, Aoka Mizu

“Trinity had one of the longest standing UK contractual relationships with Bluewater Floating Production spanning many years. The support during that time also extended to international deployments including Singapore & Dubai when our FPSOs have been supported during shipyard refits and projects. Trinity is a professional offshore catering/facilities service company whose values are reflective of it being an independent, family run business – these values focus on their people and the relationships with the people offshore and with Bluewater management as their client.

Trinity has consistently provided quality, trained personnel for our offshore installations who have delivered excellent food and accommodation services to our offshore workforce over many years.”

Neil Marchant  Asset Manager – Aoka Mizu
